The most valuable asset to any business that rely on computers to operate and run their business is their hardware infrastructure. This ranges from hardware routers, switches, workstations, servers, printers, etc. without the proper placement, configuration, and monitoring any one point of failure could be catastrophic to business operations.

When planning your infrastructure you need to plan for network growth so if your a startup business with a modem, router, and a workstation. How can you plan?

Example of a typical startup (Modem, Router, Workstation)

1. When looking at for an ISP do they provide scalable network connections (5 Mbps, 10 Mbps, 25 Mbps) on your current modem, ...

2. When looking at a router does it allow for both wired and wireless connections, can you add more than one subnet, does it have multi-wan capabilities, ....

3. When looking at a workstation most can easily be converted to a server using either Windows, Linux, or BSD. You could add more RAM and use it as a Virtual Server which in turn could run all of the above, ...

So even a simple network can be built upon there are many factors involved and near limitless layouts that can be done to the above that will increase your current network infrastructure.

Creating IT Harmony
